CelticChristianTunes.com PODCAST: WOULD YOU LISTEN?
We're considering initiating a weekly half-hour
podcast which would consist primarily of music
and a few artist news tidbits. This would require
a lot of time and effort, so it isn't something
that we will undertake unless we know there will
be enough interest. If you are interested in a
CelticChristianTunes.com podcast or have any
suggestions for what you would like such a
podcast to contain, please reply to let us know.
We'd love to hear from you.
(If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you
can find out more about podcasts at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcast.)

*** MUSIC NEWS ***
ANUNA has just completed recording their new
album, tentatively titled "Sanctus".
THE BARRA MACNEILS released their ninth
recording, "All At Once" this fall. The recording
features the addition of siblings Boyd and Ryan
MacNeil to the group.
MOYA BRENNAN has released a Christmas album,
simply titled "An Irish Christmas". This album
reviews the Christmas story through a blend of
new tracks and traditional songs like "God Rest
Ye Merry Gentlemen" and "In The Bleak Midwinter".
According to Moya, the idea for the album first
came to her some time ago: "I've been involved in
number of other people's Christmas projects in
recent years," explains Moya, "but I wanted to
capture a truly Celtic Christmas feeling...It's
always important to bring the meaning of
Christmas to the fore."
MOYA BRENNAN also makes guest appearances on
other recent albums. These include the Delirious?
album, "The Mission Bell". Moya's appearance in
the song "I'll See You" is one of several guest
appearances on that album. (More info:
http://www.delirious.co.uk/.) Moya also appears
on the new Schiller album titled "Tag Und Nacht".
In 2003, Schiller and Moya Brennan worked
together on a techno/dance remix of "Show Me"
from Moya's album "Two Horizons". On the new
Schiller album, Moya sings on two songs, "Miles
and Miles" and "Falling". (More info:
http://www.schiller-musik.de.)
DAN CAROLLO: and Michael Connolly are working on
a new CD project, to be released early next year.
Also involved in the project is fiddler Randal
Bays (who, if you're in the Seattle area, you
can hear for free at the Dusty Strings Open House
on Saturday, Dec. 3rd at 11:00 am). The new
project will be all instrumental music, a mix of
traditional Irish and American tunes, with a few
originals.
CEILI RAIN received 5 Unity Awards this month.
The Unity Awards are the Catholic equivalent of
the Gospel Music (Dove) Awards. Ceili Rain was
nominated in 9 different categories.
CELE DE is working on their next album on the
heels of this summer's "Fresh" EP.
KEITH GETTY has released the fourth and final
installment in the "New Irish Hymns" series,
"Hymns for the Life of the Church". This album
includes new congregational hymns on different
subjects, from communion, preaching and
benediction to unity, suffering and world
mission. Like the previous two albums in the
series, it features Margaret Becker, Iona's
Joanne Hogg, and Kristyn Getty.
Speaking of JOANNE HOGG, she's beginning work on her second solo album.
And speaking of IONA, they're making fast
progress on their upcoming album "The Circling
Hour". Member Dave Bainbridge describes Iona's
new sound as "rocky and edgy". Iona is also
preparing for final video edits on their upcoming
live DVD, and has announced that in addition to
the DVD, there are plans to release the concert
as a double CD soon. The CD version will not
include the additional acoustic set.
SONGS FOR LUCA 2: The "Songs for Luca" album has
raised approximately 20,000 to help fund Dave
and Debbie Bainbridge's autistic son Luca's
home-based Son-Rise program, which Debbie and
Dave have been running for the past 3 years.
Educational experts have been amazed at Luca's
progress and at Luca's annual review in July they
confirmed that the course was having tremendously
beneficial effects for Luca, who turned 8 this
month. However, sales from "Songs for Luca" are
dropping off now that it has been available for
almost 3 years, and Dave and Debbie are planning
to continue fundraising with "Songs for Luca 2".
Several artists have already committed to
contributing tracks.
JEFF JOHNSON & BRIAN DUNNING have a new Christmas
album available, "Stars In The Morning East - A
Christmas Meditation". The recording features
musical contributions from John Fitzpatrick
(violin), Maire Breatnach (viola & violin) and
Jozef Luptak (cello).
PHIL KEAGGY is working on tracks for both his
next vocal album, as well as an upcoming
instrumental project being released for McPherson
Guitars. Phil also has re-released instructional
videos that Phil released back in the 80's and
90's, "Electric Guitar Style" and "Acoustic
Guitar Style".
KULA, a young band from Rose Creek Village in
Selmer, TN is recording their first CD.
RAYMOND MCCULLOUGH has released "Into Jerusalem",
a Celtic/Hebrew worship album.
