ANAM CARAS' second album, "The Peace of God" is
due to be released in September.
MOYA BRENNAN will be performing for Pope Benedict
XVI as part of World Youth Day in Cologne in
Germany. Moya will perform to around a million
people at an evening prayer vigil on Saturday,
August 20, where she will sing her song "Bright
Star".
MOYA BRENNAN is also working on a new Christmas
album. The self-produced album will include some
original material and new versions of old carols.
DAN COROLLO and CELTOGRASS have begun work on new CD project.
CELE DE's new album, "Fresh EP", was released in July, with 5 new
tunes.
EDEN'S BRIDGE has released a new album, "New
Celtic Worship". This first album in six years
features a combination of new and old songs,
including "I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say",
"Before the Throne of God Above", "Light of the
World", and others. The album is currently
available in the UK and should be available
elsewhere later this year.
FATHOM has produced a new album, "Celtic Rocks",
a fourteen-song collection of both original and
traditional Irish instrumentals with Fathom's
hard rock Celtic sound. The fourteen track album
was self-produced entirely by the band and
recorded over a one year period. Uilleann Piper
Danny McLaughlin also makes a return guest
appearance to Fathom, lending his talents to
several tracks.
THE ELECTRICS are working on a new album in
preparation for a 10-week, 45-city USA tour
beginning in September.
TROY DONOCKLEY and DAVE BAINBRIDGE's new album,
"When Worlds Collide" is due for release in
September. Troy and Dave have kept busy, having
also recently released "From Silence".
JOANNE HOGG, Iona's lead singer, will undergo
major surgery which carries a substantial risk of
permanent damage to the nerve supply of her vocal
cords. The operation is set for August 23rd.
Joanne requests prayer for a complete recovery.
JEFF JOHNSON has released "Vespers - light into
Light". Inspired by the traditional evensong
service, this album is the result of
collaboration between keyboardist and vocalist,
Jeff Johnson and classical singer, Janet Chvatal
and features instrumental and vocal compositions
segued with Taiz and Latin chants. (Discussion
of this album should not pass without mention of
the tragic August 16 death of Brother Roger,
founder of the Taiz community in the south of
Bergundy, France. More information may be found
at http://www.taize.fr.)
Also coming soon from Jeff Johnson and Brian
Dunning is "Stars In The Morning East - A
Christmas Meditation". This eleven instrumental
track compilation begins with Barry McGovern's
reading of Patrick Kavanagh's A Christmas
Childhood and also features contributions by John
Fitzpatrick (violin), M ire Breatnach (viola &
violin), Jozef Lupt k (cello) among others.
RUNRIG will release the UK version of "Runrig:
The Best" on August 29. Also forthcoming is the
much awaited "City of Lights" DVD.
