CelticChristianTunes.com Newsletter Supplement
February 18, 2004
Hello!
Normally the CelticChristianTunes.com Newsletter is published on
odd-numbered months, plus December. However, a couple of things are
in the works that I wanted to take a quick moment to inform our
readers about:
*** WE NEED YOUR HELP! RADIO LISTENERS, PLEASE READ ***
You can help clean up the ads!
A few months ago, we conducted a survey of CelticChristianTunes.com
Radio listeners regarding the content of audio ads played by Live365
on our stream. Our concerns centered around certain themes and
language (mainly the Lord's name in vain) which we believed were
inconsistent with the goals of a Christian radio station. Of those
who responded to the survey, fully half had been offended by ads they
had heard on CelticChristianTunes.com Radio, and of those, some
indicated it makes them less likely to listen. Though these responses
weren't surprising, they were distressing.
We contacted Live365 with our concern, and received no reply. This
issue has been brought up by other Christian broadcasters in Live365
online forums, with no offer to help by Live365. While we don't
necessarily expect Live365 to share our Christian values, we do
expect them to use advertising which makes good business sense, and
if for no other reason, they should not needlessly offend listeners.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: We have started a discussion thread in a
Live365.com forum, the goal of which is to persuade Live365 that this
is a concern to many broadcasters and listeners, and that it is in
their interest to act. Our hope is that an overwhelming response will
have the effect not achieved by previous discussion threads. If you
share our concern about this issue, please take a moment to add your
post to the discussion thread. If you choose to post, please keep
your posts civil, considerate, and non-inflammatory. To post in the
forum, go to http://forums.live365.com/viewtopic.php?t=11996 and if
necessary log in to your Live365 account by entering your name and
password on the right side of the screen.
(If for some reason this doesn't work, go first to
http://www.live365.com/, log in, click on the "Community" tab, then
on "Message Boards", then scroll down to "Religious/Spiritual", and
click the topic "PROFANITY etc. in Live365 audio ads".)
Thanks for helping to make CelticChristianTunes.com Radio better! If
you have any questions about this effort please feel free to reply to
this message.
MOYA BRENNAN RELEASES "TWO HORIZONS" IN NORTH AMERICA
Our last newsletter came out just a few days to soon to catch Moya's
early February release of "Two Horizons" for listeners in North
America. Though not specifically a Christian album, fans of Moya's
previous Christian albums will certainly appreciate this work. More
info: http://www.moyabrennan.com/.
MOYA BRENNAN INTERVIEW
We had the good fortune last week to interview Moya during a break in
her European touring schedule. Audio of the interview has been posted
on our Features page. For those not wanting to download the 2.7 MB
MP3 file, a transcript will be posted within the next couple of days.
