WORKSHOP: Song and Silence: A Weekend with the Celtic Saints
Frank A. Mills
Pendle Hill, Wallingford PA
November 21-23
The ancient Celts believed that God sang creation into existence, and this theme
permeates to the very heart of Celtic Christianity. Teaching (often through
storytelling and song), community and solitude were all important. During this
weekend we will examine and draw from the rich heritage of Celtic Christianity
and the words of Celtic saints, in a setting that provides ample opportunity for
all three. Talks, supplemented with traditional Celtic tales and music, will be
coupled with community interaction and private solitude in a way that makes this
rich tradition come alive for our everyday living.
Frank A. Mills is Professor of Celtic Studies at Marylhurst University,
Portland, Oregon and leads workshops in a wide variety of settings. He is also
CEO of IdeasMatter, an ideation and futuring group. Frank believes that Celtic
Christianity offers a relevant model for servant-leadership in a Postmodern Age.
He publishes an occasional e-mail journal of Celtic Spirituality, ORAN MîR.
